One Nation Under the Stars

One Nation Under the Stars

June 19, 2019

Summer is quickly approaching and officially kicks off on June 21st. To me, summer is synonymous with that glorious Texas heat that we have all come to know and love (who is with me?), BBQs, fireworks, ice tea and cold ice cream! Aaahh… It’s also synonymous with the celebration of our nation’s Independence from Great Britain on July 4th way back in 1776. I love all of the celebrations commemorating this federal holiday, don’t you?

If you’re into wearing red, white and blue and singing songs like “God Bless America” and the “Star Spangled Banner”, then you’ve got to come to the annual GCP 4th of July Celebration. I’m not saying you’ll be required to sing or dance for that matter, but I am saying that you’re in for a treat. The celebration is open to residents (free), their friends and family (for a small fee). Doris, our Director of Fun, has quite the lineup for us this year. Check.this.out:

  • Texas Joe Bailey Band
  • Vernon's Kuntry BBQ - brisket meal
  • Non-alcoholic drinks, beer, wine, regular and mango margaritas
  • Watermelon eating contest (contestants needed)
  • Watermelon toss
  • Sandcastle building area for the kids
  • Fshing poles for anyone who would like to fish
  • Cornhole
  • ... and more!

Mark your calendars and plan to join the festivities as we celebrate “One Nation Under the Stars” on July 4th at 6:00pm! For those of you who are looking for an after party containing fireworks, you can head over to The 4th of July Red, Hot and Blue Festival Woodlands Firework Extravaganza. All of the information can be found here.

This is an event that I am very much looking forward to and I hope to see YOU there! I’m trying to talk my handsome husband into participating in the watermelon eating contest! I think he’s going to do it. Let the training commence!
