Holiday Traditions

Holiday Traditions

November 21, 2019

One day I was driving down I-45 with my friend Teresa, and she said with much excitement “Look, it's Santa Clause!” Don't worry I didn't actually look because I was the one driving the car. But let me just tell you that this happened in August... August, friends! Yes, Santa was on the top of a building on I-45 somewhere between Grand Central Park and Spring in August. He was either super late or super early for Christmas (wink, wink). In all seriousness, the holiday season is quickly approaching and that means it’s time for Black Friday shopping (which I hear could be considered a semi-contact sport), Christmas parties, ugly sweater competitions, caroling, gift giving or whatever your tradition may be. I have a dear friend who is the Queen of watching Hallmark movies, anyone else? For Lee and I, one of our traditions is putting up the Christmas tree while watching the movie Elf (which is my most favorite movie ever) and drinking delicious hot chocolate! What about you? What are your traditions? Another one of our favorite traditions is the annual Holly Jolly Holiday at Grand Central Park because who doesn’t like having their picture taken with Santa? One is never too old for that, right? That’s not the only thing that excites us about this annual festivity. The decadent cookies, delicious hot chocolate and getting to pet real live reindeer always promise to be a jolly good time.

For fun, I googled “Christmas in Montgomery County, TX” and there is no shortage of other jolly fun things to do to commemorate the holiday season. Perhaps you’d like to incorporate one of these events into your annual tradition.

  • November 22nd - Holiday Market at The Woodlands Waterway
  • December 2nd - Christmas in the Woods at 7 Acre Woods
  • December 3rd - Annual Christmas Tree lighting in Downtown Conroe
  • December 7th - Montgomery County Mistletoe Market at The Lone Star Convention & Expo Center
  • December 12th, 4:30-7:30p - Sip n’ Stroll at The Montgomery Community Center
  • December 14th, 11a-4p - Conroe Christmas Celebration in Downtown Conroe
  • December 14th, 5:30 - 9:30p Christmas Boat Parade of Lights on Lake Conroe
  • December 19th, 8p - Christmas Carol at the Owen Theatre

Of course, who could forget about ice skating at The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center located in The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, which opens daily starting November 16th!!!

Whatever you do this Christmas season, my hope is that you are surrounded by those that mean the most to you. Tis the season to be jolly!!!
