Winter Solstice Celebration at Bernhardt Winery

I remember like it was yesterday, although it was December 16, 2012. Lee invited me to go to dinner with him, but he didn’t tell me where we were going. All he said was to be ready and that he was going to pick me up at 5 o’clock. I had a small inclination as to what he was up to as we had been dating for about three and a half years at that point.  I knew early on when we started dating that he was the one; the answer to my prayers. To say that I was getting antsy would have been an understatement though.. I mean… three and a half years of dating and I wasn’t getting any younger!!

On that clear sunny Sunday afternoon, I got ready for our special date and then Lee picked me up. We drove up I-45 North and began to head West on 105. I remember the song that was playing on the radio because it’s one of my favorite holiday songs: Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Canon. I just smiled and had a giddy feeling in my stomach. Before our first official date, Lee and I went to the The Woodlands Cycling Club picnic that took place at Bernhardt Winery and that’s where sparks began to fly. Yup, my guy was taking me back to that very place to propose to me. This night was super special because it was Bernhardt Winery’s annual Winter Solstice Celebration. The Fab Five was playing, which is one of my favorite local bands. The night included a hay ride and Christmas caroling, chili (yup), cabernet sauvignon, lighting of the luminaries around the vineyard and a proposal that ended with an emphatic yes (or should I say finally)! It was a remarkable night and one that I will not forget. I share all of this because it’s fun to reminisce on that special day and to say, Bernhardt Winery’s Winter Solstice is still an annual tradition and is taking place on December 14th from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. Entrance to the event is FREE, however, you can purchase a ticket and participate in the following activities:

• Vineyard Train Ride

• Cookie Walk (While Supplies Last)
• S'Mores (While Supplies Last)
• Hot Chocolate (While Supplies Last)
• $10 FOR 5 TICKETS OR $2 PER TICKET
