Conroe Arbor Day

Conroe Arbor Day

February 20, 2020

Guess what.. I’m going to let you in on an event that’s coming up in February that you don’t want to miss, especially if you’re into landscaping and green living. Who around here couldn’t use a couple more trees in their backyard? I bet you’re wondering what I am talking about… I’m talking about an annual event that is in its 10th year that features deciduous and evergreen tree saplings provided by the Texas A&M Forest Service located in Jesse Jones State Forest. And here’s the exciting part, they are FREE (for Conroe residents only). There, I said it.. FREE trees. Do I have your undivided attention? Great, get out your calendar and take note of this date: February 22nd! Details are below. The initiative is to “Green up Conroe”. I don’t know about you, but that makes me excited!!

When we first moved to Grand Central Park two years ago, Lee attended Arbor Day and brought home… 5 tree saplings and 2 15-gallon live oak trees to plant in our backyard. These trees are still going strong and we are so grateful to the Texas A&M Forest Service and Root for Conroe, the event facilitators.

It’s normal that when you move into a new community like Grand Central Park, that you lose some of the trees. This is such a great way to replenish those trees! Just a side note, the Montgomery County Master Gardeners will be assisting in handing out trees and providing free gardening tips! Yes, please!! Here are the details:

  • February 22, 2020

9:00a - 1p at Founders Plaza in Conroe.

Available on a first come first serve basis. All trees are native to Texas.

*A limited number of 15 gallon trees will be available also.

  • Coincides with Conroe’s Go Texan Day Parade which starts at 1:00p in Downtown Conroe making Arbor Day even more family friendly!

There’s a quote that I heard that I’ll never forget. It goes like this: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” See you at Arbor Day!
