Tips for Rocking Your Next Outdoor Concert

June 10, 2019

There’s nothing like live music, and if you can enjoy it under the stars, so much the better. Outdoor concerts are a fun and often free way to bond with family and friends over a beloved band.

If you’re making plans to attend our Island Vibes Weekend Concert, 5-8 p.m. Saturday, June 29, or any other gig, you’ll want to get the most out of your experience, so we’ve put together a list of tips for rocking your next concert.

Arrive Early

The early bird gets the best view, so if you have a preferred listening post, don’t be late. Arriving early also allows you to participate in any fun activities the venue offers. During our concert, we’ll have face painters, oversized lawn games, a bouncy house with slide and more.

Prepare to Get Comfy

Bring easy-to-carry and comfortable camping chairs or lawn chairs. A big, thick blanket is great for the kids, allowing them to stretch out, play with toys or even nap.

Slather on the Sunscreen

Summer days are long, which means you’re probably going to spend part of the concert basking in the sun. Slather on the sunscreen just before you arrive and carry a travel size container so you can reapply if necessary. A hat, UV treated clothes and sunglasses also provide protection.

Stay Hydrated

Texas summers are a tad warm so stay cool and hydrated during the concert by bringing water bottles and cooling towels. An essential oil lavender and mint mist on the back of the neck is also refreshing.

Love Your Layers

The day may start out warm, but evening breezes can give you a chill. Our concert takes place by Deer Lake so you definitely want to pack light sweaters and jackets just in case.

What’s for Dinner?

You’ll need fuel for dancing and singing along with the band. Many venues offer food for sale. For the Island Vibes Weekend Concert, we offer a catered meal that can be pre-purchased online. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Adult meals include cheeseburger sliders while kids’ meals include a hot dog. Forget to pre-order? No worries — it’s $12 cash at the door.

Are You a Dancing Queen?

Yes, you can dance at outdoor concerts! For the best experience, wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

Capture the Moment (in Moderation)

Tempted to break out the cell phone for pictures or videos. Go ahead. Keep in mind that there are people behind you and be considerate. And there’s no need to capture every moment. Enjoy the live experience.
