Rather, they were local business people and chamber members who joined the development team for two ribbon-cutting ceremonies. In a show of community support, Grand Central Park is now a member of the Conroe Chamber of Commerce and The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to supporting the efforts of both chambers to strengthen and cultivate the business environment in Montgomery County,” said Virgil Yoakum, general manager. The galaxies aligned for a VIP evening under the stars as residents, Realtors, local officials and others gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Grand Central Park April 20. Camp cuisine and canteen bar cocktails were served as Texas country band Willowcreek Junction entertained guests that included Montgomery County Judge Craig Doyle and Commissioner Mike Meador. In addition to the music and libations, event-goers also pulled up stakes to tour the nine model homes now open in the community. Approximately 300 people attended the invitation-only gathering, which paid homage to Grand Central Park’s rich legacy and exciting future. If you went, feel free to share photos on the Grand Central Park Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ grandcentralparktx. VIPs Helped Grand Central Park Shine in April Nearly 1,500 people came out for the Grand Central Park Grand Opening Jamboree April 22, a camping-themed event hosted to celebrate the history of the community, its rich natural environment and its exciting future. The fun-filled day was jam packed with activities, including a chance to take a photo with a baby kangaroo, climb a rock wall and meet Smokey the Bear and Ranger Paul. Camp cuisine and a canteen bar served tasty fare, and fabulous vehicles were on display at the Jeep Showcase. A highlight of the day was the chance to tour the nine model homes now open in Grand Central Park. In addition to the beautiful décor, camping displays were set up in all the model home backyards. Guests attending the event could register to win the camping gear for their own backyard adventures. Those wanting to explore beyond Texas could put their name in to win a Jeep tour in the red rock country of Sedona, Ariz.
