As a child I remember playing Rummikub with my Grandma Baggerly. We also played Dominos. That was one of the fond memories I have of my Grandma. I am grateful that she instilled the love of playing board games in me. You didn't sit on a made bed in my Grandma's house, but you could certainly play as many games as you'd like, while listening to Solid Gold Country music no doubt.
Since the time of quarantine and social distancing, Lee and I have found ourselves playing more games than normal. Prior to that, busy schedules and a fast paced way of living was more our norm. What about you? What have you been doing to entertain yourself in recent times? Did you play games as a child? I've always said that music is nostalgic and I feel the same way about playing games. In addition to playing a game on any given Friday night, Lee and I love listening to Grand Central Park’s playlists on Spotify while enjoying a glass of red wine. It’s truly a winning combination.
I have a tiny confession.. But first, are you familiar with Enneagram? If not.. .look it up! If you are, then you must know that I am a 3… 3’s are competitive! All I can say is… poor Lee. He has his hands full. My confession is… sometimes I don’t demonstrate sportsmanlike conduct. If you ask Lee, he might say I never demonstrate sportsmanlike conduct. But hey.. he’s not writing this! All kidding aside, slowing down to play games has really been a blessing in disguise. I had forgotten how much I enjoy it. Playing games also provides a great opportunity to connect on an emotional level.
Below is a list of a few of my favorite games. What about you? What games do you like to play?
The next time you have a game night, might I encourage you to tune into one of the GCP playlists on Spotify? Happy winning (heehee)!
