We Ran, We Colored, We Conquered HungerJuly 27, 2026
This summer, 600 ambitious souls decided to trade their cozy beds for running shoes and a chance to paint the trails of Grand Central Park with sweat and color. Why? Because it was time for the 5th Annual Montgomery County Food Bank Outrun Hunger event, where the only thing more rewarding than crossing the finish line was knowing you were helping put food on the table for families in need. Grand Central Park hosted the run which brought out a record-breaking crowd, proving once again that running is way more fun with company. The run offered a classic 5K and the always fun 1K Color Dash, as well as a new 8K trail run for those who like their races with an extra helping of challenge. Our trails delivered their usual charm, while the Color Dash turned runners into walking (or sprinting) rainbows. It was messy, it was fun, and it was totally worth it. On the competitive side, Jonathan Rotzien and Mirian Ramirez crushed the 8K, proving they’ve got legs of steel, while Bryson Meredith and Maureen Meredith dominated the 5K. During the run, The Party Pavilion at The Lake House was the ultimate hangout spot, complete with live tunes that had toes tapping and food trucks serving up bites worth running for. Kids went wild in the activity zone. It was a full-on celebration with something for everyone, whether you were carb-loading or pretending you weren’t sore while busting a move to the music. Huge props to H-E-B Hunger Relief for stepping up as the Presenting Sponsor — and they weren’t alone. Other sponsors included: • Platinum Sponsors: Enterprise Mobility and Waste Connections

More than 100,000 neighbors in Montgomery County face food insecurity, and 30,000+ of those neighbors are children. When schools close for the summer, the need for food assistance only grows. Outrun Hunger helps Montgomery County Food Bank meet the rising demand head on. Thanks to all the miles run, dollars raised, and sponsors who chipped in, families across Montgomery County will get the meals they need. We were thrilled to be a part of it and can’t wait to host the race again next year! See you then. |
