Resident Spotlight: Bret & Florencia — Finding Love Close to HomeSeptember 04, 2026
Sometimes, the best love stories begin much closer to home than you might expect. When Grand Central Park residents Bret and Florencia matched on a dating app, neither realized they were practically neighbors. Florencia had listed her location simply as “Houston,” and Bret almost didn’t swipe because he assumed she lived too far away. As they got to know each other, Bret happened to mention that he lived in Grand Central Park. Florencia’s response? “No way!” As it turned out, the two lived so close to one another that Bret jokes he could hit a golf ball from his house to hers. And that wasn’t the only coincidence they would discover. From a First Date to Evening WalksTheir first date at Mezze #1 lasted five hours. When Bret asked Florencia if she would like to get together again, she suggested something simple: taking walks together. Those evening strolls through Grand Central Park quickly became part of their routine. They explored the community’s wooded trails, often ending their walks in the Adirondack chairs overlooking the lake, where they could sit, relax and talk. Along the way, they discovered another surprising connection — they had both moved into their Grand Central Park homes on the exact same day. More than 10 months later, Bret and Florencia are still exploring the neighborhood together, trying new restaurants and finding new adventures close to home. Meet BretOriginally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Bret chose Grand Central Park for its convenient location and abundance of outdoor amenities. As a United Airlines captain, Bret flies the Boeing 787 to destinations across Asia, Europe and the Pacific. He is also the proud father of a son and two daughters. When he’s not flying, you’ll likely find him outdoors. Bret enjoys mountain biking, hiking, fishing and flying his personal airplane. An avid adventurer, he has also climbed 43 of Colorado’s 58 fourteen-thousand-foot peaks. It’s no surprise that some of his favorite places in Grand Central Park are the wooded trails, lakes and pickleball courts. Meet FlorenciaOriginally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Florencia moved to Grand Central Park from The Woodlands and quickly fell in love with the community’s peaceful, natural surroundings. A professional pastry chef who now manages a local café chain, Florencia enjoys creating new recipes, staying active, wakeboarding, riding her bike and spending time outdoors. She is also the proud mom of three grown daughters. For Florencia, Grand Central Park has become much more than simply a place to live. It’s a place where she can unwind, enjoy nature and, unexpectedly, find someone special. Love, Right Around the CornerIf you see Bret and Florencia around Grand Central Park, chances are they’re taking advantage of the great outdoors — walking the trails, riding their bikes or relaxing together by the lake. Their story is a reminder that Grand Central Park is about more than beautiful homes and amenities. It’s a community where neighbors connect, friendships grow and life’s unexpected moments can happen right outside your front door. And sometimes, love really is just around the corner. |
