Meet Doris Hopper Our New Director of Fun

March 24, 2018

What does “hosting” a murder mystery and “solving” a murder mystery have in common — Doris Hopper, our new Director of Fun.

As a former police detective from El Paso, Doris knows her way around a good mystery, but she’s also developed some serious street cred in the event planning arena.

“Event planning has always been my passion,” Hopper said. “When I wasn’t busy solving crime, the El Paso Police Department employed me to host events for their department and the City of El Paso.”

During her 23 years working serious crimes she also coordinated large National Women in Policing conferences, safety fairs and Crime Stoppers telethons. Upon retiring, she moved to the Houston area to be closer to her daughter.

“After a short hiatus to enjoy the piney woods I now call home, I went back to work doing exactly what I love,” she said. “I was hired by The Woodlands Township to work in Neighborhood Services, sharing safety and hosting events, assisting with the Neighborhood Watch and their award-winning National Night Out program.”

We are excited (and lucky) to have her at Grand Central Park, where she will help residents get to know each other through a variety of engaging events.

Stop by the Coventry Homes model (211 Twilight Toast Drive) to say hello. If you want to make a great impression, bring along something sweet to share (she loves sweets). You also might want to congratulate her on her recent wedding (last December). When she isn’t spending time with her new husband, chocolate lab or her grandchildren, you can find her enjoying her favorite hobbies — cooking and interior decorating.

She’s looking forward to meeting you and finding out how she can make Grand Central Park an exciting and fun place to live!
