Changes Coming to Central Village School Zoning

Changes Coming to Central Village School Zoning

January 15, 2026

Big news for parents and kids attending or soon to be attending middle and junior high school. Conroe ISD has just given the green light to a fresh set of school boundaries, kicking off this fall. These changes will affect students in our Central Village & South Villages and are all about creating the best learning spaces for students. Here’s what’s in store and how it’ll impact your kids.

Starting this fall, students in 5th and 6th grade will be attending the brand-new Janene Fowler Intermediate School, which is set to open its doors in August. New school year, new school—how exciting is that?

Meanwhile, your 7th and 8th graders will head to the currently-under-construction Lynn Cartwright Junior High School, which is expected to open in 2027. While it may be a few years away, the district is laying the groundwork for a state-of-the-art campus designed to meet the needs of junior high school students.

If you’re a resident of our West Village, there are no big changes coming your way. Families in this area will continue with their current assignments, including Cryer Intermediate for 5th and 6th graders, and Peet Junior High School for 7th and 8th graders.

As for elementary school students across both villages, they’ll remain at Wilkinson Elementary or Rice Elementary, depending on your specific location. All roads still lead to Conroe High School.

The new schools were built with money from a school bond passed in 2023 to address Conroe’s growth over the past few years. A large part of the rezoning process involved listening to community input. Residents had the opportunity to weigh in on important factors, such as keeping families impacted as minimally as possible, ensuring geographical areas made sense, and improving transportation routes for smoother commutes.

You can learn more about the rezoning here. Grand Central Park is proud to be part of the award-winning Conroe ISD and we look forward to introducing our families to these new schools.
