Outrun Hunger 5K Raises $75,000 For Food Bank

May 17, 2023

More than 400 participants braved the rain to “Outrun Hunger” at Grand Central Park, raising nearly $75,000 to help feed children, seniors and families facing hunger in Montgomery County.

The event, benefiting the Montgomery County Food Bank, featured a timed 5K trail run/walk and 1K color dash. Color dash participants covered themselves in colored powder and proceeded at a more leisurely pace. Awards were given to the 5K age group winners, top team fundraiser and top individual fundraiser.

Afterward, racers and their cheering sections enjoyed live music, food trucks, a kids’ zone, vendors, photo ops and more at the Party Pavilion. The money raised will provide thousands of meals to hungry families.

The Montgomery County Food Bank partners with more than 80 food pantries, local school districts and community partners to provide more than 10 million meals. Among their many programs is an onsite Produce Rescue Center that helps distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to families in need. Mobile Markets provide groceries at pop-up events, reaching up to 300 to 400 families.

We loved being part of this amazing event and want to thank everyone who laced up their running shows and came out to fight hunger.
